First, you must complete the EMV terminal setup.
Step 1: From your account → in the top right of the navigation menu → click on the [Virtual Terminal] icon.
Step 2: Using the [Virtual Terminal], enter your patient's name, type in the dollar amount, and select the [Card EMV] icon for "Billing Type".
Note: If you have more than one EMV Terminal at your location, select the terminal that you'd like to process from.
Step 3: Click on the [Process EMV Card for $X] then click [OK] to proceed and instruct the customer to follow the prompts on the terminal. Once the transaction is accepted, you will see a receipt on your computer monitor.
Notes:
- The terminal may time out, so ensure the patient has their card ready to insert/ swipe/ tap.
- When the payment is complete, the terminal will ask the customer to remove the card if it was inserted.
- Lane 5000 users only - After the payment goes through, the customer will be prompted to sign on the terminal screen (using their finger or stylus), then click [OK] or the green button.
- If the customer was not prompted to sign on the terminal, there will not be a signature line on the receipt.
- The EMV terminal will NOT automatically save your patient's card information. To save the card information, you will need to manually add the card information to the patient's Billing Vault. To do so, follow the steps below:
- Step 1: When you open the Virtual Terminal and enter your patient's name into the [Client Account] field, click on the [Edit] button. This will open the patient record for your patient.
- Step 2: Next, click on the Billing Vault (lock icon).
- Step 3: Select [Add New] → then [Credit Card].
- Step 4: If you have a USB swiper, you can swipe the patient's physical card to save it to the patient's billing vault, however, if you do not, you can manually type in the required information. Once all required fields are filled in, a [Save Card On-File] button will appear at the bottom of the screen where you can click on it to save the information.
- Step 5: Once the card is successfully saved to the Billing Vault, you will see a green alert at the top of the page. Close out of all of the modal windows (in the top-right corner) until you are brought back to the Virtual Terminal. There, you will continue to fill out the fields to run the card through the EMV terminal (see the first three steps at the top of this article).
To view the transactions from the [Dashboard], click on the [End of Day Summary Report].
